About Kitchener

Kitchener lies west of the Grand River and just north of the 401, with good highway connections along #7 and #8, as well as a major airport east of the community, and is served by VIA Rail and inter-city bus operators. Kitchener is the area's commercial, manufacturing, financial, and distribution centre and has a population of 210,000 (2006).

Kitchener offers an endless amount of choice when it comes to filling your days with new, intriguing experiences.  For a touch of culture, catch a show at one of the many theatres or galleries; or immerse yourself in the action by attending one of our many festivals and special events. Most of them take place outdoors -- explore the many parks, trails and natural areas - a combination of scenic and serene.

Kitchener is also home to many memorable attractions, offering a glimpse into the heritage -- as well as one-of-a-kind experiences you won't want to miss!  Kitchener has designated three districts for historical preservation including Upper Doon, Victoria Park and the neighbourhood of veterans' housing around St. Mary's Hospital.
